Down Home Christmas Memories

Ready or not Christmas is fast approaching. A friend of mine has been counting down to Christmas on her Facebook account since March. That is a bit much for me, but I do admit I love Christmas! I love the hustle and bustle of the shopping, the cooking, the parties, the school concerts…..it is all part of the extra excitement that makes the season magical for me. I know that there are lots of people that grumble about the modern day holiday season and long for simpler times.

For those people, and even those who love the season, here are some Canadian books that may spark a memory or two:

Christmas in the Maritimes : a treasury of stories and memories
by Elaine Ingliss Hogg

Christmas in Atlantic Canada : heartwarming legends, tales and traditions
by Joyce Glasner

An Orange from Portugal: Christmas stories from the Maritimes and Newfoundland
by Anne Simpson

Traditional Holiday Fare: recipes from Canada’s east coast
by Marie Nightingale

Christmas treasures: Newfoundland stories and Christmas recipes
by Lisa Ivany and Robert Hunt

A Maritime Christmas : new stories and memories of the season : an introduction
by Clary Croft

So no matter your feeling about this season I do hope that all our readers experience something magical!
