Downtown axe assault was drug related

  From HRPD:   Yesterday at 1:20 p.m., police responded to a weapons complaint in the area of Barrington and Duke Streets. Upon arrival officers discovered a man who had been stuck with a hatchet. He was transported to hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Two men, aged 22 and 20 were arrested and a weapon believed to have been used in the assault was recovered. Investigators believe this incident is drug related.

Yesterday at 1:20 p.m., police responded to a weapons complaint in the
area of Barrington and Duke Streets. Upon arrival officers discovered a
man who had been stuck with a hatchet. He was transported to hospital
with non-life threatening injuries. Two men, aged 22 and 20 were
arrested and a weapon believed to have been used in the assault was
recovered. Investigators believe this incident is drug related.
Both men are scheduled to appear in Halifax Provincial Court today to
face charges of robbery, assault with a weapon, assault causing bodily
harm and breach of probation. The 22-year-old man faces an additional
charge of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose. He was also
faces charges of
break and enter, theft and breach of probation in connection with a
residential break and enter that took place on July 4 on Windmill Road
in Dartmouth.
