DARTMOUTH – The Dog Days of Dartmouth take place June 12-17. Downtown Dartmouth businesses are joining forces with local dog rescue organizations to raise funds and awareness. There are several fun events planned to bring pooches and people together downtown:
- Thursday, June 15 – Tennis Ball Scavenger Hunt (pay $3 for your dog to hunt for hundreds of tennis balls hidden around downtown. All proceeds to NS rescue organizations.)
- Friday, June 16 – Hot Dog Feast Friday – Several downtown shops and restaurants offering gourmet hot dogs for humans and treats for furry friends
- Saturday, June 17 – Pooch Party in the Park – A free event for dog lovers in Ferry Terminal Park from noon to 2 p.m. Guest speakers, dog agility demo, pet portraits, meet and greet with Nova Scotia Rescue Organizations
Plus, starting next week, many businesses will display dog-friendly decals on doors to let pet owners know they can bring furry friends with them to enjoy our neighborhood. We even have three pet-friendly patios!
The Dog Days of Dartmouth is an event created by an energetic group of downtown Dartmouth businesses, led by Shannon Marshall, owner of Indulgence Intimate Products & Apparel. Shannon often brings her dog to the shop and customers love it!
