Downtown grocery store robbed

Police are investigating a robbery that occurred in Halifax yesterday.

At approximately 7:20 p.m. police responded to a robbery that occurred at the Plaza Grocery Rite Stop at 1864 Albemarle Street. A man entered the store, told the employee that he had a gun and demanded cash. The man fled the area on foot with a quantity of cigarettes and cash. The employee was not physically injured.

The suspect is described as a white man, approximately 5’8″ tall, with a medium build and spoke with an Irish accent. He was wearing a black paisley bandanna, a black and yellow baseball hat, a brown hooded sweatshirt, jeans and black and white sneakers.
