Driver airlifted to hospital after serious crash

Just after 1 a.m. this morning, East Hants District RCMP, Fire and EHS responded to a report of a single vehicle crash on Hwy. 214 in Belnan.

Upon arrival at the scene, officers located a Honda Civic that had left the road, striking trees and a power pole. The driver and lone occupant of the vehicle, an 18-year-old male from Elmsdale, sustained life-threatening injuries. He was transported to hospital by LifeFlight.

Hwy. 214, at about civic 594, was closed for several hours while a collision analyst attended to process the scene and repairs were made to the power pole and lines. The investigation is ongoing.
