Release:
February 18, 2011, Halifax Regional Municipality (HRM) .. Members of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) charged a male driver with "stunting" under Section 163(1)(f) of the Motor Vehicle Act.

On February 17, 2011, 11:14 PM, RCMP stopped a 17-year-old male for exceeding the legal speed.  He was traveling in excess of the posted speed limit while driving westbound on Highway 101 near Exit 2.  If convicted, the minimum fine for a first offense is over $2400.  As well, under the new "stunting" laws, drivers lose their licence for seven days and the car is impounded as soon as they are stopped by police.  In this case, RCMP seized the vehicle and it will be released at the conclusion of the seven day suspension.  The driver will be appearing in court at a later date.

RCMP state that the speed was 197 km/hr in a 110 km/hr zone.
