Driver flees from police

Halifax District RCMP arrested a 26-year-old man from Middle Sackville, after refusing to stop for police.

Just after midnight on June 28, a member of the Halifax District RCMP attempted to pull over a pick-up truck for a burnt out headlight on Beaver Bank Rd. The truck refused to stop and turned into a driveway.  At the end of the driveway, the driver fled on foot in the woods and left the truck running. A quantity of drugs was located in the truck. The Halifax Regional Police K9 Unit attended and searched for the suspect.  An off duty RCMP member, who was aware of the incident, saw the suspect running through a backyard and ran after him. Shortly after, the suspect ran up a tree and once back on the ground, he was arrested without incident.

The man was released from custody and is schedule to appear in Dartmouth Provincial Court at a later date. He is facing charges of Flight from Police, Possession of a Controlled Substances for the Purpose of Trafficking and Obstruction.
