Driver makes illegal right turn at Almon & Windsor, flees police, faces charges

On October 4 at approximately 9:20 a.m., officers observed a vehicle making a prohibited right turn at the intersection of Almon Street and Windsor Street in Halifax. When the officers initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle, it accelerated to a high rate of speed and fled from police. Officers did not pursue for public safety concerns.

Through further investigation, officers located and arrested the driver on October 5 at approximately 3:35 p.m. without incident. 

A 43-year-old man is scheduled to appear in Halifax provincial court today to face charges of:

  • Flight from peace officer
  • Dangerous operation of a conveyance
  • Failure to comply with condition of release order
