Driver transported by LifeFlight after collision with school bus

RCMP Halifax Regional Detachment is investigating a serious collision that occurred in Porters Lake.

Yesterday, at approximately 3:15 p.m., RCMP Halifax Regional Detachment, fire and EHS responded to a report of a collision on Hwy. 7 near Post Office Rd. RCMP officers learned that a Honda Pilot and a school bus were travelling in opposite directions on the highway when they collided head on.

The driver of the Honda Pilot, a 41-year-old Lake Echo man, suffered life threatening injuries. He was transported to hospital by LifeFlight. Two children, who were passengers in the Pilot, did not suffer physical injuries but were transported to hospital by EHS as a precaution.

The occupants of the school bus, a driver and ten youths, were assessed by EHS at the scene. They did not suffer physical injuries.

A collision reconstructionist attended the scene and the investigation is ongoing.

Hwy. 7 was closed for several hours but has since reopened.
