RCMP release:
Colchester County District RCMP has charged a man with several offences, including drug trafficking, following a motor vehicle crash off Hwy 104.
On May 19, at approximately 12 p.m., Colchester County District RCMP, Cumberland County District RCMP and Northwest Traffic Services responded to a report of a fuel delivery truck that had been stolen from New Brunswick and was believed to be travelling on Hwy 104 toward Truro.
Responding officers observed the truck on Hwy 104 near the Cobequid Pass Toll Plaza. Officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop on the vehicle, but the driver refused to stop then pulled into the median and into oncoming traffic. Officers deactivated their lights and sirens, and did not pursue the vehicle in consideration of public safety.
A short time later the truck veered off Exit 10, Hwy 104, near Great Village, rolling onto its side. The driver exited the truck and was arrested by officers as he attempted to flee. Oil began leaking from the truck and fire services attended to mitigate the spill.
As part of the investigation, Colchester County District RCMP searched the truck and seized a quantity of drugs, believed to be heroin.
Brennen Dana Robinson, 40, of Moncton, has been charged with:
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime (over $5,000)
- Dangerous Operation of a Conveyance
- Flight from a Peace Officer
- Possession for the Purposes of Trafficking (Heroin)
- Breach of a Release Order (two counts)
- Breach of a Probation Order (six counts)
Robinson has been remanded into custody and appeared in Truro Provincial Court on May 21. Robinson remains in custody and his next court appearance is scheduled for May 28 in Truro Provincial Court.
The investigation is ongoing and is being led by Colchester County District RCMP.
