Drug, weapons and underage drinking charges after traffic stop

NGRP release:

New Glasgow Regional Police has charged a driver and passenger, both from Pictou County with multiple offences following a traffic stop in the Trenton Park parking lot.

On June 22, 2024, at approximately 10:42 pm, New Glasgow Regional Police while on routine patrol conducted a traffic stop on a 2023 Kia Sportage vehicle in the parking lot of the Trenton Park, Trenton, NS.

Upon investigation of the vehicle, driver and passenger, New Glasgow Regional Police officers arrested a 20-year-old-male and a 17-year-old.

During a search of the vehicle, New Glasgow Regional Police officers located and seized a Rifle, Stun Baton, Prohibited Knife, Drugs, Alcohol and Drug Paraphernalia.

As a result, the drive, 17-years-of age has been charged with:

Failure to comply with or Refusal of Demand.

Underage Drinking.

Two Counts of Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking.

Possession of Firearm in a Vehicle.

Two Counts of Unauthorized Possession of Firearm or Prohibited Weapon,

Unsafe Storage of a Firearm.

Possession of a Firearm Knowing Possession Unauthorized.

The 20-year-old-male passenger has been charged with:

Illegal Possession of Alcohol.

Three Counts of Unauthorized Possession of Firearm or Prohibited Weapon,

Possession of a Firearm Knowing Possession Unauthorized.

Two Counts of Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking.

Unsafe Storage of a Firearm.

The 17-year-old driver has been released under strict conditions and will appear in Provincial Court in Pictou at a later date. The 20-year-old -male passenger has been released upon strict conditions and will be appearing in Provincial Court in Pictou on August 26, 2024.
