Drugs seized after two searches, Amherst, N.S.

Over the past week, the Cumberland County Street Crime Enforcement Unit (CCSCEU) conducted searches resulting in quantities of Methamphetamine Oxycodone and Cannabis being seized.

On October 2, 2015, CCSCEU with the assistance of Amherst Police Department, executed a search warrant at a residence on North Adelaide St.

, Amherst where officers seized 73 tablets of methamphetamine and 66 grams of marihuana.

An 18-year-old male and 17-year-old female were arrested at the scene without incident. The 18-year-old male is facing two counts of Trafficking in a Controlled Substance and will appear in Amherst Provincial Court on November 16, 2015. The 17-year-old female will appear in court on a later date.

On September 29, 2015, CCSCEU officers conducted a search at a residence in Springhill resulting in the seizure of 88 tablets of Oxycodone, a small quantity of cannabis and cash.

As a result, Timothy Laurie Sterling, 55 of Springhill is charged with Trafficking in a Controlled Substance and is scheduled to attend Amherst Provincial Court on November 2, 2015.
Roger Rushton, 56 of Springhill, is charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking and is scheduled to attend Amherst Provincial Court on November 9th, 2015.

The investigations are ongoing.
