DUI charge after man crashes loaded propane truck

At approximately 9:57 a.m. on November 28, 2020 Halifax Regional Police responded to the an area near the intersection of Akerley Boulevard and Gloria McCluskey Avenue, Dartmouth regarding a report that a transport truck had rolled. It was determined that the truck was loaded with 45,000 litres of propane. Halifax Regional Police with the assistance of Halifax Regional Fire Service secured the area as the situation was assessed.

The driver of the transport vehicle was the sole occupant of the vehicle and was not injured.  As a result of the observations of the patrol members on-scene the driver was arrested for impaired operation of a conveyance.

The 48-year-old male driver from Sydney, Nova Scotia will appear in Provincial court in Halifax at a later date to face charges of impaired operation of a conveyance contrary to section 320.14 of the Criminal Code. 

Halifax Regional Police, Halifax Regional Fire Service and members of the Department of Transportation remained at the scene while the safe transfer of the propane was facilitated.
