DUI charges after car hits restaurant while going through drive-thru

The Truro Police Service charged two people with impaired driving from incidents overnight. Last evening the Truro Police Service received a call about a possible impaired driver leaving a local drinking establishment.

Officers located the suspect vehicle and initiated a traffic stop, and as a result a 31 year old Truro man was arrested and charged with impaired driving, and driving while his license is suspended. The accused will appear in Truro Provincial Court on May 19, 2021. In the second incident the Truro Police Service responded to a fast food restaurant on Willow St for a report of a vehicle that struck the building while navigating the drive thru.

Officers arrested a 42 year old male from Amherst at the scene. The accused was charged with impaired driving, failing to comply with a court order, resist arrest, and assaulting a police officer. The accused will appear in Truro Provincial Court at a later date.
