Halifax Regional Police has charged two people in relation to an impaired driving incident that occurred last night in Halifax.
At approximately 8:35 p.m. officers attempted to a stop a vehicle with a stolen license plate in the area of Bauer Street. The driver refused to stop the vehicle, continued at slow speed, and struck the police vehicle before coming to a stop on North Street.
Officers observed signs of impairment as the driver was being arrested. The driver refused to comply with the demand for a breath test. The passenger was arrested after a brief struggle as they refused to exit the vehicle.
Raymond Michael Henick, 41, is scheduled to appear in Halifax provincial court today to face charges of:
- Operation of a conveyance while impaired
- Dangerous operation of a conveyance
- Flight from peace officer
- Driving while prohibited
- Failure or refusal to comply with demand for testing
- Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000
A 34-year-old woman is scheduled to appear at a later date in Halifax provincial court to face one count each of, possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000 and resisting arrest.
