Employee unharmed after stick-wielding man demands cash and cigarettes

HRP release:

On November 8 at approximately 3 p.m., officers responded to a robbery that occurred at the Irving gas station, located at 6515 Quinpool Road. A man entered the store, carrying a wooden stick, demanded money from the till and cigarettes.

The man then used the stick to smash the plastic cover on the counter. The suspect fled the area on foot with a quantity of money and cigarettes. The employee was not physically injured.

At approximately 4 p.m. officers located and arrested the suspect. A 43-year-old man, is scheduled to appear in Halifax provincial court at a later date to face the charges of robbery with an offensive weapon and possession of a weapon dangerous to public peace.
