Members of the Nova Scotia Government & General Employees Union (NSGEU) Local 55, who work for the Workers’ Compensation Board, have voted 83% in favour of strike action to back their demands at the bargaining table.
The Union and the Employer enter the conciliation process tomorrow, May 8 and May 9th.
“This strike vote is motivated by a real concern for fair treatment by the Employer as the WCB moves forward with a transformation of their operations,” says NSGEU President Jason MacLean. “At this time, our members are facing significant threats to job security and the membership has just given us a strong mandate to address these in conciliation.”
