ENVIRONMENT–Northern Pulp Now Has Terms of Reference for Focus Report

The Department of Environment provided Northern Pulp with the terms of reference for its focus report today, April 23.

Environment Minister Margaret Miller is requiring the report as part of the environmental assessment process for the company’s proposed effluent treatment facility project.

“We require more information to properly assess the project’s impacts on the environment,” said Ms. Miller. “The terms of reference outline what the company must provide in the report so that a decision can be made based on science and evidence.”

The terms of reference are available at https://novascotia.ca/nse/ea/Replacement_Effluent_Treatment_Facility_Project/ .

The company has up to a year to submit the focus report. Once submitted, it will be posted on the department website and the public will have 30 days to comment.

More information about the process is available at https://novascotia.ca/nse/ea/docs/Reg_Time_Frames_EA_Dec2018.pdf.
