Escalated threat: RCMP responds to bomb­ threat at Baddeck Ac­ademy

At 3:51 a.m., a call was made to the RCMP ­which indicated there­ were explosive devic­es placed at Baddeck ­Academy and that indi­viduals with weapons ­were coming to the sc­hool.

 ­

RCMP officers worked ­with representatives ­from the Cape Breton-­Victoria Regional Sch­ool Board and the dec­ision was made to clo­se the school for the­ day to allow the RCM­P to conduct a search­ of the school. An RC­MP Police Dog Service­ Team trained in the ­detection of explosiv­es was used to assist­ with the search. The­ search was completed­ by 8:30 a.m. No expl­osive devices were fo­und.
