At 3:51 a.m., a call was made to the RCMP which indicated there were explosive devices placed at Baddeck Academy and that individuals with weapons were coming to the school.
RCMP officers worked with representatives from the Cape Breton-Victoria Regional School Board and the decision was made to close the school for the day to allow the RCMP to conduct a search of the school. An RCMP Police Dog Service Team trained in the detection of explosives was used to assist with the search. The search was completed by 8:30 a.m. No explosive devices were found.
The investigation is ongoing.
