Eskasoni RCMP charge man in armed robbery in Eskasoni.

On September 1, 2023 at approximately 12:35 p.m., Eskasoni RCMP responded to a report of an armed robbery that occurred at a gas station on Castle Bay Rd. in Eskasoni. RCMP officers learned that a man had entered the gas station, armed with a knife, stole cash from the till, and then fled on foot. No one was injured during the incident.

Approximately 45 minutes later, RCMP officers located the suspect and attempted to arrest him, however the man fled on foot. RCMP officers gave chase and caught up the man after he had tripped and fallen. A struggle ensued, resulting in an officer delivering a strike to the man, and he was subsequently handcuffed. The man suffered minor injuries as a result of the strike and he was treated and released by EHS.

During the booking-in process at the Eskasoni Detachment, the man assaulted an officer, resulting in the man being immediately taken to a cell and lodged for the night. The officer was not injured.

Charles Marshall, 30, of Eskasoni, has been charged with Robbery, Disguise with Intent, Assaulting a Peace Officer, Resisting Arrest and Breach of Probation (2 counts). Marshall was remanded into custody and will appear in Sydney Provincial Court on September 5, 2023, at 9:30 a.m.
