Evacuation order lifted around damaged crane

The Halifax Regional Municipality is advising residents that the evacuation order for the area around Faulkner Street, Lyle Street, Windmill Road and Wyse Road has been lifted. 

At approximately 10:30 a.m. today, the on-site Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) officer from the Province of Nova Scotia’s Department of Labour, Skills and Immigration verified the engineer’s report that the crane has been further secured, allowing the municipality to lift the evacuation order. 

Evacuated residents may now return to their homes effective immediately.  

Halifax Regional Fire & Emergency and Halifax Regional Police are concluding their support for this incident and are in the process of leaving the scene as the impacted streets can reopen. 

Note – this will be the final update from the municipality for this situation.
