Every good turn deserves…a party

As some of you may already know, I sit on the board of directors for a literary journal and literacy association that I founded a number of years ago. For the past four years we’ve been holding a silent auction at the Pogue Fado to raise funds for the publication of the journal and for operational costs (which, believe me, are so minimal you might not believe me if I told you the amount). We survive on the kindness of volunteers.

The event is one of our most successful ones we plan each year with live music, half-priced food, games and prizes, alongside auction items from all price ranges. Everybody wins.

Now that you’ve read a couple of paragraphs and are more committed to where this blog post might be going, here’s my PBS telethon moment:

We need your support.

If you’re a business and have a product or service we can auction off, please consider donating something. In exchange, you’ll get mention on the front cover of the journal, logo placement on the auction sheet as well as on our website (which will include a link back to your site).

If not, please just come out to the event and help spread the word through your social media networks. The event will take place at the Pogue Fado on Sunday July 26 from 5-9 p.m.

All Rights Reserved produces a high quality publication for new and emerging writers and artists in this region, across Canada, and the world. We may be small but we operate on the passion of many volunteers who firmly believe we’re making a difference in the literary and literacy scene in Halifax and beyond.

If you’re interested in making a donation, please contact me at kimberly.aliasgrace [at] gmail [dot] com or DM me on Twitter.
