Family, Friends Hold Candlelight Vigil For Missing Dartmouth Woman

Those who know and love Melissa Dawn Peacock are refusing to give up hope for her safe return after the 20-year old Dartmouth woman went missing on November 7.

Metro Halifax reports that Melissa's family members and friends held a candlelight vigil for her last night in a procession across the MacDonald bridge as the investigation into her disappearance enters its second week.

At this time police say there is no proof of foul play in connection to the missing persons case. The article states that Peacock was "known to take off for periods at a time", although never for this long say her friends and family — making it all the more worrisome.

Text messages from Peacock sent to friends the day of her disappearance have them concerned. One of her friends is quoted in the article as saying "they said she didn't want to be where she was — wherever that was– and the she wanted to come home and that she was sorry."

Another friend remains optimistic, telling Metro Halifax "I stay positive and I know she's fine."
