Fatal collision claims life of 17-year-old – Annapolis County

At 6:47 p.m. on February 3, a serious collision in Centrelea, Annapolis County was reported via 911. The driver of a car lost control when negotiating a turn on Hwy. 201, and it then struck a utility pole. The car was heavily damaged and overturned in the ditch.

A retired police officer and some bystanders assisted until RCMP, volunteer firefighters, and paramedics arrived on scene.

The driver had to be extricated from the vehicle. She was taken by ambulance to local hospital then airlifted to Halifax for further medical treatment.

Highway 201 was closed in the area and traffic was diverted to Hwy. 101.

The driver, a 17-year-old female from Bridgetown, died in hospital. An RCMP Collision Reconstructionist was called to attend the scene for evidence. The road was re-opened just before 6 a.m. today. The investigation into the cause of the collision is ongoing.
