Colchester County District RCMP is investigating a fatal crash that occurred in Middle Stewiacke.

On May 1, 2024, at approximately 10:09 p.m., Colchester County District RCMP, fire and EHS responded to a report of a single motor vehicle crash on Hwy. 289. Upon arrival at the scene, RCMP officers learned that a Honda Civic was travelling northbound towards Truro when it left the roadway and came to a rest on its roof.

The driver and sole occupant, an 18-year-old Upper Musquodoboit man, suffered serious injuries and was transported to a Halifax hospital by EHS, where he later succumbed to his injuries. 

A collision reconstructionist attended the scene. The investigation remains ongoing.

Hwy. 289 was closed for several hours but has since reopened.
