Fatal collision on Highway 107 claims woman’s life

At 3:23 p.m. on January 17, Halifax District RCMP responded to a serious collision on Highway 107, near distance marker 31.

A small car travelling East lost control and slid into the oncoming lane of traffic, and collided head-on with a westbound vehicle.

The driver of the eastbound vehicle, a 49-year-old woman from Jeddore, died at the scene. The male passenger in the vehicle was injured and transported to hospital by ambulance. Both had to be extracted from the vehicle. The driver of the westbound vehicle suffered undetermined injuries, was extracted from the vehicle, and was transported to hospital by ambulance.

Highway 107 was closed from the time of the collision until 10:30 p.m. last night. An RCMP Collision Analyst attended the scene and gathered evidence to assist in determining the cause of the collision, which remains under investigation.
