Fatal collision takes life of 17-year-old

RCMP release:

Lunenburg District RCMP is investigating a fatal collision that occurred on Hwy. 12 in New Ross.

On August 27, 2023, at approximately 1:15 a.m. Lunenburg District RCMP, fire and EHS, responded to a report of a two-vehicle collision on Hwy. 12 in New Ross. RCMP officers learned that a Honda Civic and a Toyota Corolla were travelling in opposite directions on Hwy. 12 when they collided.

The lone passenger in the Honda Civic, a 17-year-old youth from Chester Grant, was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver, a 20-year-old man from New Ross, suffered serious injuries and was taken to hospital by ambulance.

The four occupants of the Toyota Corolla, including the driver, a 26-year-old man, and three passengers, a 28-year-old woman, a 28-year-old man and a 25 year-old woman, suffered injuries and were transported to hospital by ambulance.

A collision reconstructionist attended the scene and the investigation is ongoing.

Hwy. 12 was closed for several hours but has since reopened.
