Fatal crash in East Chester

Lunenburg District RCMP is investigating a fatal crash that occurred on Hwy. 3 in East Chester.

On April 24, 2023, at approximately 7 a.m., Lunenburg District RCMP responded to a report of a missing person from a home in East River. RCMP officers learned that a 39-year-old man had not been seen, or heard from, since April 21 and that his dirt bike was also missing. RCMP officers began efforts to locate the man and at approximately 10 a.m. an RCMP officer located the dirt bike and the man in a ditch off Hwy. 3 in East Chester. The man was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Based on the initial investigation, it was determined that the man had been operating his dirt bike on Hwy. 3 when it left the road and came to rest in the ditch. The man was ejected from the dirt bike during the collision.

A collision reconstructionist attended the scene and the investigation is ongoing.

Traffic on Hwy. 3 was reduced to one lane for several hours but has since fully reopened.

Our thoughts are with the victim’s family at this difficult time.
