Fatal crash takes life after car hits power pole

Digby RCMP Detachment is investigating a fatal crash that occurred in Southville.

On August 9, at approximately 8:30 p.m., Digby RCMP, fire services and EHS responded to a report of a single-vehicle crash on Langford Rd. in Southville.

Upon arrival, RCMP officers learned that a Mazda 3 had been travelling southbound when it left the road and hit a power pole.

The driver and sole occupant of the car, a 31-year-old man from Pubnico, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

An RCMP collision reconstructionist attended the location of the crash; the investigation is ongoing.

Langford Rd. was closed for several hours but has since reopened.
