Fatal house fire under investigation

Digby RCMP is investigating a fatal house fire that occurred in Plympton Station.

On January 16, shortly before 5 a.m., Digby RCMP, Plympton and Gilbert’s Cove Fire Department and other local fire departments responded to a structure fire on Old North Range Rd. When RCMP officers arrived at the scene, the home was fully engulfed in flames.

Once the fire was extinguished, the remains of an adult were located inside the home.

At this time, from the information and evidence collected, the fire is not believed to be suspicious in nature.

The investigation remains ongoing and is being assisted by the Nova Scotia Fire Marshal’s Office and the Medical Examiner Service.

Our thoughts are with the victim’s family during this difficult time.
