Lunenburg County RCMP responded to a fatal motor vehicle crash in Blockhouse yesterday evening.
At approximately 5:10 p.m., an RCMP member attempted to conduct a traffic stop on Cornwall Road in Blockhouse.
A vehicle was observed traveling at a high rate of speed when the member activated emergency equipment in an effort to pull the vehicle over. The driver did not stop for police and the vehicle was later found crashed into the woods.
EHS paramedics attended the scene and the driver was pronounced deceased. The driver and lone occupant of the vehicle was a 23-year-old male from Clearland.
The RCMP has referred this to the Nova Scotia Serious Incident Response Team (SIRT) who have taken over the investigation. Given the matter is now being investigated by SIRT, the RCMP is not unable to disclose further details.
