Just before 5 p.m. last evening, Inverness District RCMP responded to a collision involving two motorcycles on the Cabot Trail in Grand Étang.
One of the riders, a 72-year-old man from Chéticamp, was pronounced deceased at the scene. The rider of the other motorcycle, a 67-year-old man from Oyster Pond, was transported by EHS to the Sacred Heart Community Health Centre in Chéticamp. He was later transferred to the QEII in Halifax with serious injuries.
The highway was closed for several hours while an RCMP Collision Analyst attended the scene to examine for evidence. The investigation is continuing.
