Favourite Friday – Friday the (August) 13th edition: No Sleep ’til Brooklyn

I like Kate Spade. I like The Beastie Boys. I had no idea I could combine the two.  But hot damn! I totally can! (note to the Christmas and Birthday fairies: I would love those bracelets. A lot).

You thought I was going to give you No Sleep Til Brooklyn didn’t you? Well, honestly, it’s not my favourite Beastie Boys song.  I’ve got a soft spot for it, but I’ve got a softer spot for Hey Ladies. And even softer for Sabotage (well, just about anything from Illcommunication. And I totally kill it on Sabotage when playing Rock Band). I’ve also got a mad crush on MCA (which I believe I’ve covered before. But I’m okay repeating it).

Oh yes. He’s total Pretend Boyfriend material. And like a bottle of Chateauneuf du Pape, he is totally fine like wine when he starts to rap. Or play the bass. Or direct movies. Or just exists as his hot Buddhist self. I think I’ll add him to the list of Smouldering Men.

I’m going to leave that as my contribution to your Friday. My internet is down at home and I don’t feel like staying at work so late to do this. I love you guys, but I need to drag myself home. As it is, Susie’s is probably closed, which means no cupcake for me. Sadfaces. West Side Story without cupcakes? Will I survive?

Ally: Thank eff it’s Friday. Since I am completely drunk off of Nyquil due to a “cold” that my son brought home from daycare (how can something so small carry upon itself something so lethal?), I shouldn’t be on The Internets broadcasting my thoughts. I did that once before when I was 20 and decided to whip off an email to a boy I was dating exclaiming how I really felt about him talking to that girl at the bar (turns out, she actually WAS his sister! Who knew?!), anythewho…didn’t turn out so cupcake-like.

My favourite thing this week is dress shorts. As in, shorts you can wear to work a la this lady:

I desperately need a pair. I had the nicest pair a couple of years ago, they were Mexx and I bought them at Samuel and Co. in Park Lane. I might have had a few too many hamburgers that summer, because just as my husband and I were darting off to have dinner at the neighbours (and I was leaning into the fridge to get the chilled wine we were bringing them) I heard a r-iiiiiii-iiiii-ppp. Yup, a hole right up the keester. I’m on a hunt for a new pair that I can wear into fall, and this is totally the time to buy them. End of summer sales! Perhaps Club Monaco?

Speaking of fall, I was chatting with two colleagues the other day and I decided we need to have a male guest blogger help us out with a What Should the Boys Wear in Autumn. Any takers?
