Favourite Friday – July 16th Edition – The musicful edition with L-A

Bonjour! C’est vendredi! The day when I am most likely to sing the Cure. Just me today, so it seemed silly to start the post off telling you who it is. We all know Ally is on vacation, which means she’s probably rummaging for treasures at a Frenchy’s. And maybe finding pretty things for co-bloggers? You never know. So that leaves you with just me. The upside of this? No bad country music! No Enrique! I know. Last week was particularly bad. Let’s move on to things that are favourites and not so much favourites. Since we usually don’t listen to my music around here, I’m going a little bit crazy with the videos.

The not favourite thing of the week: I have cankles. Oh how I wish I was kidding about this, but I’m not. Last week I ate one too many bbq’ed hot dogs (which, for me, means any number more than one) and I think the insane amount of sodium caused my feet to blow up like fat little water balloons.  It settled down for a day or two, but puffed back up again on Monday (no explanation for that one, I kept the sodium low since the Hot Dog Incident). Anyway, this has meant a lot of time in loose sandals or going barefoot under my desk, shoving my puffy feet into shoes whenever I had to leave the office. I know there are worse things in the world than puffy feet and ankles, but when you have them, you try to think of something worse.

Not quite so bad as cankles, but still not a favourite: I downloaded the new Liz Phair. On first listen, I think I like one song. I’m going to go put on Exile in Guyville and pretend this didn’t happen. (Liz Phair memory: playing it on my stereo in my first apartment on Gaspereau Ave while my parents were visiting and part way through Flower trying to decide between pretending the song wasn’t on or turning it off and acknowledging the dirty Liz Phair lyrics).

Moving on. Favourites!

I enjoyed the video I found (via Bryanboy) for the Prada FW 2010 campaign:

I know, it’s summer and no one really wants to think about fall or winter anything. But I think this was one of my favourite FW collections, so not entirely surprised I enjoyed the video.

Probably has something to do with the fact that I’ve always wanted a bouffant. I’ve even thought about getting bumpits.

Next favourite of the week is my new-to-me musical finds. The first one is a remix of ‘I am not a robot’ by Marina and the Diamonds.  Itwas suggested in the comments last week and I maybe listened to it on repeat for the 24 hours after reading the comment:

Awesome, right? right. The original version of the song is equally enjoyable.

Next new-to-me musical favourite is Dekshoo by Radio Radio. Acadian rap!

Most of the time, I am not at all sure about what they are saying because my French is iffy on a good day, so that means zero grasp on what is going on with Acadian French. But they seem to be debating the merits of the penny loafer versus the deck shoe.  I like a song that debates shoes. I also dig the style of Radio Radio…they are making me rethink rolled up pants on dudes. And I am also digging the ascot and bow tie action (although, this may not translate into real life).

I’ve always been a penny loafer girl myself.

I’m thinking that this is the fall when I’m going to re-introduce them into my wardrobe. It’s been far too long since I’ve had a penny stuck in my shoe.

Final favourite of the week: I’m going to Iceland! YESSSS! We bought plane tickets earlier this week and the plan is to spend (Canadian) Thanksgiving in and around Reykjavik. Let’s break out that catchy Niceland dance video again:
