Favourite Fridays – the August 2nd edition

L-A: Ally is off to the cottage this weekend and I’m pretty jealous because even though I’m off today, I’m very much not headed to the cottage. Whatevs. Long Weekend! Let’s talk favourites.

1. Long Weekend!

Clearly.

2. Iggy Azalea, our Mascot

Both Ally and I were working on our shit (and by shit, I mean important work projects) thanks to this song:

We’ve declared Iggy to be our Mascot. There’s something delightful about her. And between this song and ‘Murda Bizness’, we think she’s a perfect fit for us.

3. Style Cure

There are rooms in my new house that I’m determined to decorate like adults live there. So I’m doing the Apartment Therapy Style Cure to get my ass in gear and get working on my shit. Now I just have to decide which room gets decorated.

The living room would be a front runner if it didn’t involve painting all the way upstairs. And there’s a chandelier in my dining room that needs to go.

4. Reading like it’s my job

As you may or may not know, my usual reading choices are of the YA variety (with zero shame). But this summer I’ve been reading a bunch of books actually written for adults. I’m in the middle of Sheryl Sandberg’s Lean In (which gives me some feelings) and most recently, Gillian Flynn’s Gone Girl, because I wanted to know what the big deal is.

I’m not sure I’ve figured out what the big deal is, but I’m definitely enjoying it so far. And I can totally see Ben Affleck playing Nick. Also, I totally hate Nick right now.

I’m also really into Joan Didion this summer, which is pretty much the perfect “let’s sit out and read with a glass of wine” sort of reading.

5. This bracelet is all kinds of the best

So, I have feelings about bees. Like why are they disappearing? And why don’t we care more? Because bees are dying y’all and we should care! (And I assume they’re not disappearing for the reasons the Doctor says they are). And while buying this bracelet doesn’t really change anything, I do like that it’s a very little bit that I can do to help bees.

Plus, you know, it’s really cute and I love bracelets.

7. I watched The Vineyard and I’ll probably watch it again.

Remember how much you loved/hated The Hills? Well this show totally fills the void in your life left by that show (I bet you didn’t even know the void was there!).

I watched and reviewed it for You Know You Love Fashion and I’m almost ashamed, but not quite, to admit that I’m totally going to watch it again. Just so you can judge me properly, here’s the trailer for the series.

Yeah. It’s exactly what you expect.

Alright, now let’s go have a long weekend!
