Festive Layered Nacho Dip

Whether it’s decorating the tree together, busting out a holiday tune, or building snowmen in your front yard, the holidays are full of traditions, and recipes are no exception.
Now you might not consider nacho dip to be at the top of that list, but in my family is a sure fire sign that everyone’s home.
During the holidays my mother always makes cheesecakes, and so there’s always a plethora of cream cheese around. And when we are all hanging out watching a movie we like to have some yummy things to munch on, and this recipe is so easy that it can be whipped up in as little as ten minutes.

My younger brother in particular loves this dip; so much that you can bet that he’ll request it if it’s not already prepared in the fridge. But because this recipe makes a pretty large serving (I made a mini version for this post) I rarely make it unless everyone is around to eat it.

Traditionally this dip is served with nacho chips, so I like to mix it up with fresh veggies, and some organic blue corn chips, or reduced salt kettle chips (my personal fav) to make it a little bit healthier. So with some fresh cut tomatoes, and green peppers this recipe is a-okay with me (and even little brother approved) for the holiday season.
Festive Layered Nacho Dip
INGREDIENTS

1 (250g) container of cream cheese (I use the low fat one)
1/2 cup sour cream (you could also use plain Greek yogurt here)
1 cup of salsa
2 cups mozzarella/cheddar mix shredded cheese (again I use the low fat)
2 tomatoes chopped.
1/2 green pepper chopped.
Nacho chips, potato chips, crackers or veggies to serve.
DIRECTIONS

Mix first 3 ingredients until well blended; spread onto plate or clear oven/casserole dish.
Top with layers of all remaining ingredients.
Refrigerate until ready to serve. I like to give it at least an hour, as I find the flavors tend to combine a lot better.
Serve with veggies, chips and/or crackers.

What recipes are you making this holiday season?
