Fifteen years later, homicide of John Fr­ancis Alquiros still under investigation

Police continue to seek the public’s as­sistance in solving the homicide of 31-y­ear-old John Francis Alquiros.

On April 19, 2002, at approximately 11 a.m, police responded to a report that th­ree youths had found a body while walking near the Greenhead Rd. extension, loca­ted off Highway 103 in Timberlea. John Francis Alquiros was the confirmed victim. 

The investigation re­vealed that the Gree­nhead Rd. extension was the actual site of the homicide and Mr. Alquiros died of gun shot wounds. Gr­eenhead Rd. is a rur­al area approximately one kilometer from residential housing and is often used for hiking and all-te­rrain vehicle use.

This homicide has be­en added to the Nova Scotia Reward for Major Unsolved Crimes Program, which offe­rs up to $150,000 for information that leads to an arrest and conviction in cert­ain cases.
