Filipino Grocer, Scotia Square Food Court

Kabayan, a Filipino grocer, has opened on Wyse Rd. in the plaza behind No Frills, they are carrying lots of authentic snacks and packaged goods like fried corn, chips, cracker, spaghetti sauce and hot dogs.

Usta a Turkish restaurant is opening beside Piez/Finnbars in Portland Hills.

Taste of the East (Chinese/Szechwan) will be taking over the former Alex Oh! spot on Dresden.

Pannizza will be opening in the Scotia Square food court, behind McD’s. As well Sushi Tonari will be going in beside Mama Gratti’s. There will one more food vendor going in as well but hearing mixed details.

HFXSOUP has started up, and it is a weekly soup subscription.

As you may have noticed the Clayton Park Canadian Tire is coming down. The leasing plan for the property shows just an empty parking lot.
Though there was a rumour of a mega Lawtons, and NSLC and also buzz about Giant Tiger we will have to wait and see.

The Social Boutique is a used clothing store for women that has opened in the plaza with Scotiabank and Jumping Bean at the start of Hammonds Plains Rd. in Bedford. Proceeds from the store are to support Dress for Success.

Temple Bar and Grill got a makeover this week and reopened now branded as 2 Doors Bar and Bites.

A few months ago I posted a rumour that Jack Astors would be going in Scotia Square, that deal is not happening now.

HBC just opened $60M e-commerce warehouse in Toronto, claims to be ready to take on Amazon.

A little slow on this but maurices opened their 3rd Nova Scotia store in New Glasgow last month. There were already stores in Truro and Sydney. maurices is a mid-priced women’s clothing (size 2-26) and accessories store there are about 1000 stores now across US and Canada, but they tend to open their store in smaller communities.
