Halifax Fire crews were called to a home at 10812 Highway 224 in Elmsvale around 8:20 pm for a report of a structure fire. Seven units responded from several nearby communities.
Zone Chief Richard Arnold said that upon arrival, crews did not see anything visible from the exterior of the structure, but upon entry they encountered thick smoke throughout the residence. The firefighters quickly determined that the fire was in the walls and the ceiling. By 9:35 pm, the fire was extinguished.
There were two residents in the home at the time of the fire and they were able to evacuate the building quickly and called 9-1-1. Nobody was injured in the blaze. The home is not considered to be a total loss. The displaced residents will be staying with family.
Investigators will be on scene to determine the cause of the fire.
