Soul Harbour Rescue Mission is currently asking for assistance from the public after a fire last night happened at their location. This organization is a downtown Halifax Shelter for people who are homeless. Their recovery shelter was hit hard by the fire last night.

The fire occurred at their location around 8:00pm on Wednesday. The cause is not yet known.

The location was not just a shelter for men, it was also the drop-in centre for people to come by and have a meal. Over 100 meals a day were served to people who dropped by.

On a post made on the organization’s Facebook Page, The CEO of Soul Harbour Rescue Mission, Michelle Porter, says all shelter guests were accounted for and brought to Chateau Bedford Hotel and Suites.

Porter also says the organization does not have many details surrounding the fire, but the organization is in need of sack lunches for their shelter guests. If you are able to prepare any amount of sack lunches to help, please bring them to 5568 Cunard Street.

She says a care fund has been set up for the shelter to help with the possible needs that will arise from the fire last night.

Soul Harbour Rescue Mission’s care fund can be found through their website at www.SHRM.ca.

The organization is confident that the Halifax Community will come through for them and help to ensure those in need will be taken care of.
