Firearm incident near school ends with arrests of woman and youths

Digby RCMP has arrested one adult and two youths in relation to an incident involving a replica firearm near a school in Digby.

Yesterday, at approximately 1 p.m., Digby RCMP responded to report of youths waving a firearm near Digby Regional High School located on King St. RCMP officers quickly located and safely arrested a youth and an 18-year-old Marshalltown woman near the school. At the time of the arrests, RCMP officers located and seized a replica firearm.

A short time later, after further information and evidence was collected, RCMP officers safely arrested a second youth inside the school.

As a precaution, the Digby Regional High School was temporally put on a hold and secure.

The two youths were release on conditions and will appear in Digby Youth Justice Court on April 11, 2023, at 9:30 a.m. They will be facing a charge of Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose.

The 18-year-old woman was held in custody and will appear in Digby Provincial Court later today to face charges unrelated to this incident.

The investigation is continuing.
