Following is a provincial fire update for Saturday, Aug. 13, at 4 p.m.
— the fire at Seven Mile Lake, Annapolis Co. is 50 per cent contained and good progress is continuing. Objectives today were building guards, reinforcing lines and protecting unoccupied structures. Current size of the fire remains 395 hectares
— there are no significant changes to other fires in western Nova Scotia from the Aug. 13, 10 a.m. update
— Trunk 8 will continue to be closed today due to active water bombing operations
— most of the air resources continue be focussed on suppression efforts on the Seven Mile Lake fire today but will redirected to support other fires if needed
— despite rain in some parts of the province, conditions continue to be extremely dry. Travel restrictions and a burn ban are in effect across Nova Scotia and people are asked to continue to avoid any activity that could potentially cause more fires
