Fires Update, Friday, Aug. 12, 8 a.m.


Following is a provincial fire update for Friday, Aug. 12, at 8 a.m.

— the weather today is a mix of sun and cloud, with a 60 per cent chance of showers. There is a risk of thundershowers in the afternoon. Winds will be out of the south west at 15 km/hr.
— five firefighters from Prince Edward Island will be arriving today to help with the wildfire efforts
— the fire at Seven Mile Lake, Annapolis Co., is about 395 hectares and 45 per cent contained. Good progress continues
— two vacant, seasonal structures are under protection at the Seven Mile Lake fire site
— the fire at Perch Lake, Pictou Co., remains 100 per cent contained at about 10 hectares
— the fire at Ten Mile Lake, Queens Co., remains 100 per cent contained at about 8.3 hectares
— the fire at Maitland Bridge, Annapolis Co., remains 100 per cent contained at about 21 hectares
— the fire at Round Hill, Annapolis Co., remains 100 per cent contained at about 0.1 hectares
— Highway 8 remains closed due to active water bombing
— fires at Greenfield, Queens Co., West Dalhousie, Annapolis Co., and Clyde River, Shelburne Co., are now declared out and will no longer be included in future updates
