Fires Update, Friday, Aug. 12, at 4 p.m.

Following is a provincial fire update for Friday, Aug. 12, at
4 p.m.

— there are no significant changes from the noon update
— two areas of the fire at Ten Mile Lake, Queens Co., breached the line this afternoon but were contained with the help of air support
— thunder and lightning moving across the western part of the province are bringing some showers with them
— air tankers were delayed arriving this morning due to fog and have just returned to Halifax due to thunder and lightning. They will return when it is safe to do so
— crews have had to be removed from the fires at various points this afternoon due to thunder and lightning

On Saturday, Aug. 13 and Sunday, Aug. 14, updates will be provided at 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. Additional updates will be issued if there are significant changes. The media contact on the weekend will be Brian Taylor. His contact information is below.
