Officers from the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division charged five men this morning in relation to the homicide of Tylor Donovan McInnis.
On August 23, 2016, shortly before 2 p.m., police responded to a report of a stolen black Honda Civic. Shortly after, the vehicle was located in the St. Thomas Baptist Church Cemetery on Upper Governor St., North Preston. Upon further investigation, a deceased male was located inside the vehicle. The male was later identified as 26-year-old Tylor Donovan McInnis and his death was deemed a homicide.
The Homicide Unit of the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division took over the investigation. Shortly after 6:30 a.m. yesterday, members of the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division with assistance from the RCMP Emergency Response Team (ERT) executed a search warrant at a home on Silistria Dr., Cole Harbour and three men were arrested without incident. A fourth man was arrested in a home on Willis Lane, North Preston. A short time later, a fifth male youth was arrested at a school in Cole Harbour.
Twenty-four year-old Shawntez Neco Downey from North Preston has been charged with:
- First Degree Murder
- Attempted Murder
- Assault with a weapon
- Robbery Extortion
- Kidnapping
- Unlawful Confinement
Eighteen year-old Daniel Romeo Downey from North Preston has been charged with:
- First Degree Murder
- Robbery
- Extortion
- Kidnapping
- Unlawful Confinement
Twenty-five year-old Nicco Alexander Smith from Cole Harbour has been charged with:
- First Degree Murder
- Robbery
- Extortion
- Unlawful Confinement
Thirty-four year-old Judson Lemar Falls of North Preston is charged with:
- Accessory After the Fact
- Unlawful Confinement
A 17-year-old male from Eastern Passage is charged with Accessory After the Fact.
All five accused are scheduled to appear at Dartmouth Provincial Court this morning.
Since the investigation began, the Homicide Unit of the Criminal Investigation Division received assistance from RCMP Police Dog Services, Halifax Regional Police K9, RCMP Federal & Serious Organized Crime Section, RCMP Tact Troop, Halifax Regional Police Quick Response Unit (QRU), Halifax District Street Crime Enforcement Unit (SCEU), Forensic Identification Services (FIS), various Integrated CID Units as well as patrol members from Halifax District RCMP and Halifax Regional Police.
