First responders sound out the “Sirens for Life” blood drive

DSC_5645_wm

Responders from Halifax Regional Fire and Emergency, Halifax District RCMP, EHS and Halifax Regional Police, took part in kicking off an annual blood drive today in Halifax.

During the summer months, blood collection drop.  Travel away, or returning from countries that may put a delay in safe donation (high risk areas for malaria, for example) leads to shortages while the need for blood remains high.

As a result, first responders take up a wide spread program to donate and bring awareness to the shortage.   They know the need for life saving blood donations.

Here are some photos from the kickoff, and you may recognize a few of the participants.
