Temperatures are forecast to fall rapidly. Ponding water, slush, and any falling precipitation will freeze as the temperature drops.

Locations: parts of mainland Nova Scotia.

Temperatures: falling rapidly to near -10 this evening.

Time span: late this afternoon and tonight.

Remarks: After a period of mild temperatures and heavy rainfall with melting snow, temperatures will quickly drop below the freezing mark. A period of ice pellets and freezing rain changing to snow will occur with the passage of this cold front.

Untreated surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways, and parking lots may become icy, slippery, and hazardous.

Be prepared to adjust your driving with changing road conditions.

Flash freeze warnings are issued when a rapid drop in temperature is expected, that can cause water from rain or melted snow on streets and sidewalks to quickly freeze.
