According to the local councillor, a woman walking alone on the seawall at Sir Sandford Fleming Park recently did hurt herself when she fell off the unstable wall and tumbled into the Northwest Arm.
The woman injured her foot but isn’t planning to sue the municipality, council heard. But she, or anyone else, could have easily struck her head on the crumbling wall and been seriously hurt, or worse, said Coun. Linda Mosher (Purcells Cove-Armdale).
Emergency repair work is required immediately, she told council, while making references to internal Halifax Regional Municipality email messages indicating city staff knew about the problem as far back as 2006.”
The council agreed to the emergency repairs, but the cost is unknown.
