Sunday, January 5, 2014 – 5:02pm – A flood in the Dickson Building on the Victoria General site of the QEII, has caused the postponement of some Monday appointments and the temporary relocation of some outpatient appointments.

Capital Health has directly contacted all those patients whose appointments are postponed. All other patients with Monday appointments should attend as usual. Signs and security will direct patients to temporary clinic space within the building as necessary.

The flood happened Saturday night when a heating pipe in a fourth floor exterior wall burst, sending water down to the two floors below. Some staff and physician offices have water damage. Those staff will be relocated as needed while the spaces are dried and cleaned.

The CT simulator used to plan radiation treatments is currently out of service while it is examined for possible water damage.

Capital Health’s housekeeping staff began working Saturday night to clean up the water and a commercial cleaner is on site with dryers.

Capital Health will continue to directly contact any patients whose appointments must be postponed.
